Why Civet Coffee (Luwak Coffee) is very expensive

Kopi Luwak or civet coffee is one of the most expensive types of coffee and produced very slightly.

These coffee beans are made from coffee berries which have been eaten by a mongoose or civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus).
In the stomach, proteolytic enzymes will soak into the coffee beans, and then excreted through the intestines to civet feces.
After collected, washed, roasted, and boiled, coffee beans from the civet droppings will produce a more fragrant aroma and bitterness is much less than regular coffee.
Civet coffee was recorded as the world's most expensive coffee because of the 'natural' and a slightly production.
Civet coffee is produced in most of the island of Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi in Indonesia and also located partially in the Philippines.
Civet coffee is exported to Japan and the United States and also served in the coffee house in many Southeast Asian countries.
The popularity of civet coffee also attracted world-class presenter Oprah Winfrey. In 2003, she demonstrated how to make a civet coffee in her reality show.
Civet coffee becames one of favorite coffee for the coffee lovers around the world because of the uniqueness.
In Japan and South Korea, and another countries, civet coffee was sold up to US$200-300/500grams.
After coffee lovers in Europe, America, and East Asia know the unique taste of civet coffee, the request of civet coffee continues to grow dramatically.
